Cool spots and tips for anglers in SA

Sea Fishing and Sea Fishing Rigs

Sea fishing and sea fishing rigs are excellent examples of the thrilling atmosphere of fishing. Many men and women go out every day hoping to catch fish. With their line, tackle, rods and reels they seek the bliss that is fishing. In South Africa, whether Cape Town or Durban, a 6-pack or an ice cold 2litre cool drink is also part of the essential equipment that is required for the activity of fishing. And of course, there is the boat!

If you would like to become involved with sea fishing and sea fishing rigs then it is worth taking a trip to either the East or West Coast of South Africa. Cape Town is home to the cold sea current, but also to some incredible fishing conditions. The seaside towns along the Cape coast are home to many fishermen and women who dedicate their lives to the task of fishing, and who are grateful for any opportunity to catch fish. Simonstown, Kalk Bay and Hout Bay are home to some tiny harbours, with many a boat to be seen. If you are looking for top quality fish, these are the places to start. Durban and the KwaZulu Natal coastline is also home to some great fishing towns like Richards Bay and Durban itself. The atmosphere is relaxed and it is every person for themselves – you take your boat, your equipment and then you find the best spot to float on the gentle warm sea whilst enjoying your day out.

If you are more interested in large fishing rigs, it is best to visit the larger harbours and see what sort of tours they offer. You might not catch fish yourself, but you could witness some of the large scale operations that take place to bring you your fish for dinner at home. All in all, it is incredibly interesting to learn more about sea fishing and sea fishing rigs.
